Advanced Driving

Prepare and prevent, don't repair and repent

For experienced drivers or those that have already completed our “Know your car” section, we highly recommend you complete our Advanced Driver Training.

The intention of this training is to further educate you as an already experienced driver to quickly become a better and even safer road user.

Improve your skills in every aspect of daily driving and common situations that as a road user you face every day.

Advanced Driving Training is made up of several modules. Finishing this training will not only prepare you for emergency situations but will teach you how to expect the unexpected.

Basics for experienced drivers

If you did our “Know your car” training you already became familiar with the different parts of the engine and transmission, but here you will learn how to operate these parts effectively and efficiently including instructions on the engine speed (RPM) and the optimum speed at which to shift gears either up or down through the range. This section will be relevant to both manual and automatic gearbox owners.

Our experience shows that most drivers, whether they are experienced or not, tend to use the steering wheel incorrectly and this is another topic that we will cover in this training together with a deep understanding of how to steer correctly to avoid understeer and oversteer and what to do in both of these situations.

In addition, we will go over basics like mirrors, seat position, steering wheel adjustment and many other features to make sure that the you are using them right.

Highway

We will teach you how to plan a trip that will use the highway to get to your destination the fastest and safest way.  We will guide you in driving at highway speeds, performing correct observations, anticipating danger on the road, and how to expect the unexpected.

We will help you not only to achieve new skills but also to sharpen your current knowledge.

Inner city

While driving inside your town, there is a range of different dangers you need to be aware of, and we will cover these in this section of the course. We will also improve your parking skills using a reference point technique and include exercises for you to learn to “feel” the size of your car to be able to drive even in the narrowest places.

Curved roads

In this part of the training, we discuss driving around curves or bends in the road, both fast and slow, to make you prepared for any corner on any road.  We will teach you the correct engine speed and gear for every situation and explain many of the common terms used and methods employed to take corners in all situations.

Driving at night

Driving at night can seem like a completely different, and often much harder driving experience, hence we focus on this during this part of the Advanced Driver Training to ensure you will be aware of the additional risks, take precautions to avoid night blindness, check your distance perception and are prepared for the additional hazards that night driving can bring.  We discuss and advise what to do when you are tired, as well as tips and tricks to make your night driving experience as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Emergency situations

In this part of the training, we will take your car to the limits to prepare you how to cope with emergency situations whilst driving, we will teach you how to avoid unexpected obstacles, best control of the car in unusual or potentially dangerous situations, how to use your brakes correctly, and how to stay safe and in control in any situation.
